Caring for one another..."I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciple, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35"Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ…So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest-time, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith." St. Paul, Galatians 6:2,9-10
C.A.R.E. Ministry - (Call And Reach Everyone)
Volunteers from our congregation serve as “shepherds” who follow up with members and regular attendees by phone to let them know when they have been missed at worship. When calling, the shepherds let the individual or family know that theywere missed and make sure everyone is well. They also take any prayer requests and pass them on to the pastor and prayer chain. So, if you miss a Sunday or two, don’t be surprised when you get a loving “caring” phone call from one of our C.A.R.E. shepherds. Those wishing to serve in this ministry should contact, Debbie Connelly, chair of Nurture ministries.
B.L.E.S.S. U Ministry
This ministry supports our college students. BLESS U stands for Bringing Love, Encouragement, and Support to Students. Through this ministry, we show our ongoing love and support by sending our college students care packages throughout the school year. Anyone can be a part of this ministry by donating items to go into the care packages. Just look for the BLESS U bucket in the fellowship hall where you can place donated items. Suggested items include pictures, food/gas gift cards, packages of hot chocolate or coffee, candy, gum, stuffed animals, devotionals, fun seasonal items, etc. Greeting cards with a handwritten message are also appreciated. For more information or to volunteer to serve in this ministry, contact Debbie Connelly, Chair of Nurture ministries.
Prayer Ministry
Volunteers from the congregation serve as “prayer warriors” on behalf of individuals and families inside and outside our church. A prayer group meets each Monday at 12:00 noon in the church sanctuary. Also, volunteers serve on the telephone or e-mail prayer chain. To request prayer, please submit your prayer request to Pastor Buddy or by e-mail to our prayer chain coordinator, Debbie Christy, d_christy@live.com.
Supper Club
The Supper Club provides an opportunity for people to get to know one another and build relationships. Groups of eight (married couples as well as singles) join together a minimum of four times over six months for the sole purpose of sharing a meal and enjoying a time of fellowship. They all take turns hosting the meal, with the host providing the main course or entrée and the remaining people in the group providing the side dishes, dessert, etc. New, different groups are formed every six months. Everyone who participates is encouraged to invite their friends and neighbors to join the club. For more information, contact Debbie Connelly, chair of Nurture ministries.
Christmas Caroling
Each year during the Christmas season, we visit the homebound and local nursing home residents to bring them the good news of Jesus’ birth in song. A good singing voice is not required—just a love for Jesus and others and a desire to share the joy of the season with those who need it most.
